Ever since hearing tale that an extensive documentary about Salinger was coming out I've been pretty damn excited. And why not... besides being a fantastic writer of the highest order, there is so much intrigue, hoopla and general mystery surrounding this guy, it has become a thing bordering on mythic.

As I write this, I am halfway through the film, and can say it is extensive--with a strong focus on his time spent in WWII as a Counter-Intelligence Officer. The love affairs, the sheer burning talent for the written word is intense enough, but add in the demons (and who in the arts doesn't have those in spades?) and dogged determination to get the work done, and perfectly -obsessively so- at that, and you've got a very rich & engrossing two hours of celluloid.

Check it out on iTunes or Netflix streaming...
